1911 T205 Gold Border Ty Cobb Piedmont Cigarettes PSA 4 VG-EX

TOBACCO TYRUS!!! The 1911 T205 Gold Border cards are ultra-popular due to their regal gold borders, flamboyant hues and elaborate baseball diamond designs. Save for the famous "Hoblitzell error card", the set's most desirable subject is the fiery Tiger's Hall of Fame outfielder Tyrus Raymond Cobb. His splendid T205 Piedmont Cigarettes specimen is presented here in a PSA 4 VG-EX holder. The Georgia Peach is one of baseball's five HOF 1936 charter members, and one of our National Pastime's greatest five-tool players. Justifying that notion is his .366 lifetime batting average and unprecedented 12 AL batting titles, records that may outlast eternity. Regarding this T205 offering, Cobb's hallowed portrait image somewhat favors the left edge, with its sparkling facial hues and fine clarity set against a robust red and green baseball diamond that reveals no glaring surface flaws. Like most T205 subjects, accounting for the grade is some scattered gold border edge chipping, as well as a crease near the lower left corner, a faint soiling on the verso and even corner wear. One of Cobb's highly coveted keepsakes, it was issued during the campaign when he would post his highest batting average ever, a league-leading .419 mark!
