c.1940 Babe Ruth Signed New York World's Fair Academy of Sport Laurel Card PSA 8 NM-MT Auto

THE BABE'S SCRIPTED LAUREL CARD!!! This awe-inspiring c.1940 Laurel Card is boldly signed by the immortal Babe Ruth, with the script grading a PSA 8. Laurel Cards were presented to individuals who attended the Academy of Sport, sponsored by the legendary New York World's Fair. This offering was presented to John Geal of Long Island and includes the iconic Trylon & Perisphere World's Fair blue logo. These massive structures, designed by architects Wallace Harrison and J. Andre Fouilhoux, intended to be the momentous theme center of the 1939-40 World's Fair. Of course, the "Instructor of the Day" was Babe Ruth, and it is the Bambino's legendary black fountain pen script that is situated near the lower edge. Students who attended a single sports class received these 2-3/4" x 5-1/4" cards signed by Ruth, and individuals attending multiple classes were provided a larger Academy of Sport certificate. The flipside reveals an elaborate blue wreath design and a detailed description of how the Academy of Sport specifically works. The 1939 World's Fair officially closed on October 27, 1940, and this most significant signed Ruth heirloom serves as a sheer reminder of how the Babe utilized his unparalleled popularity to promote one of the most celebrated global events of the 20th century!
