(LOT 43)
1923 Maple Crispette (V117) #8 Babe Ruth PSA 3 VG

INAUGURAL CHAMPIONSHIP SEASON!!! The Maple Crispette Montreal Candy Co. issued a 30-subject baseball set in 1923, with the cards redeemable for various types of baseball equipment. Presented here is the iconic Babe Ruth in a super-eye-pleasing PSA 3 holder, with only three other PSA examples listed at this plateau. Issued during the legendary 1923 campaign that saw the grand opening of "The House That Ruth Built", the Bambino would christen the new stadium by belting a homer on opening day, ultimately leading the Yankees to their inaugural world championship. If you are assembling some of the Bambino's rarest cardboard artifacts from the early 1920s, then this eclectic-type card is the one for you. Revealing a good-natured crystal-clear portrait pose of the swashbuckling Ruth, the timeless image favors the right edge between four off-white borders. Emanating VG-EX aesthetics, the final superlatives are relatively clean surfaces and the flipside's bold baseball, bat and glove line drawings, as well as the redemption guidelines. Truly one of Babe Ruth's most elusive early 1920s keepsakes, this visually striking PSA 3 marvel would make a perfect addition to any esteemed Sultan of Swat collection!
