Sandy Koufax's First Road Win Ticket Stub – June 3, 1956 at Wrigley Field - Dodgers 4; Cubs 3 – PSA 4 VG-EX – "POP 4"

KOUFAX 1ST ROAD WIN!!!... The immortal Sandy Koufax's place in baseball history is etched in stone, with this flame throwing southpaw considered by many historians to be our National Pastime's greatest all-time "peak" pitcher. 1963 through 1966 would be the four years Sandy would dominate the pitching rubber arguably better than any hurler who ever toed a pitching rubber, with his legacy commencing in 1955 when he put on a Brooklyn Dodger uniform for the very first time. In limited pitching time, Koufax would win two games in his 1955 rookie campaign, both at his home Ebbets Field. The wild left-hander threw exceptionally hard, but he simply could not throw consistent strikes, prompting HOF manager Walt Alston to bring Koufax along in slow fashion. Used sparingly, it would take roughly two full months for Koufax to win his first game in his sophomore season, with that win coming on the road at the renowned Wrigley Field on June 3, 1956. Koufax would twirl eight innings against the Cubs, allowing only three runs on five hits while walking four and striking out five batters.

Leading 4-1 entering the bottom of the eight, Koufax would serve up a two-run homer to Gene Baker to narrow the gap to 4-3. Although Sandy finished the eight-inning, Clem Labine would enter the game in the ninth to earn the save, preserving the Dodgers 4-3 victory and Koufax's first official road win as well as his third career victory. This remarkable Wrigley Field ticket stub was issued on that renowned June 3, 1956 day when the iconic Koufax recorded road win #1, and has been graded a formidable PSA 4 VG-EX! One of only four such tickets listed on the illustrious PSA Pop Chart, its stellar mid-grade aesthetics are highlighted by a brilliant turquoise blue upper region background. This particular ticket was for Seat #9 in Tier 7, Box 35, and the Sunday June 3, 1956 date is boldly printed in red ink directly above the brown colored "Rain Check" text box. A super clean ticket stub issued some 67 years ago, it conjures up memories of how the fire-balling Sandy Koufax claimed his third career win, laying the groundwork for a career that belongs to the ages!
