THE BEAST!!!... Hall of Famer Jimmie Foxx certainly resides as one of the greatest right-handed hitters in baseball history (along with Hornsby, Aaron & Pujols); playing his first 11 seasons in the City of Brotherly Love with Connie Macks' Athletics. The powerful slugging first sacker tested the limits of baseball's furthest fences with his sheer power that could equally match or surpass any 21st century steroid user. Starting his career in 1925 with the Philadelphia Athletics, Foxx steadily increased his at-bats each year until he finally played his first full season in 1929. It was that fateful 1929 season that "The Beast", Foxx's popular nickname, broke out of his cage with 33 home runs, 118 RBIs and a sensational .354 batting average. He would eventually end his incredible career with 534 round-trippers, knocking in 100 or more runs an incredible 13 consecutive seasons from 1929 through 1941 with six of those seasons with the Red Sox (1936-1941).

His uncanny power placed immense fear in the hearts of most of his opposing pitchers, and he walloped 30 or more home runs in 12 consecutive seasons including two seasons in which he hit 58 and 50 dingers. For all these reasons, collectors pursue his highly coveted artifacts, justifying why this outstanding c.1930s PSA Type I photo resides as one of Double X's highly coveted collectibles. Measuring approximately 5" x 7-1/4" the sepia-toned image portrays an imposing swinging pose of the immortal Foxx as he dons his period-style Athletics flannels and cap. Breathtaking to say the least, the impeccable clarity and contrast are joined by a near-immaculate surface, with this early to mid-1930s offering miraculously eluding any notable flaws. The verso reveals the renowned Underwood & Underwood News Service credit stamp, the final superlative for one of Foxx's finest preserved vintage photos!
