(LOT 302)
c.1930s Ty Cobb 8" x 10" Type ll William Kuenzel Photograph from the 1910s Detroit News - PSA Encapsulated

THE GEORGIA PEACH!!!... Beginning in 1906, his second in the big leagues, Ty Cobb posted his first of 23 consecutive seasons batting above the .300 mark. By 1910, he was undoubtedly the most feared batters in the American League as the three-time hits leader and RBI leader. Cobb played with an intensity that delighted his teammates and vexed his opponents. Offered here is a wonderful Detroit News Type II photograph of the Georgia Peach with that intensity on his eyes. This William Kuenzel 8" x 10" photo of Cobb remains is good condition, but displays light creasing and surface abrasions due to handling. However, absolutely nothing detracts from the striking central figure. The borders are bright with a minute portion of the bottom right corner missing. The back presents slight toning and a ballpoint and a pencil notation. With his bat off his shoulder, Cobb is ready to strike in this wonderful 8" x 10" of the Detroit Hall of Famer!
