1934 Exhibits Four on One "Black Tint" w/Ruth/Gehrig/Dickey/Gomez SGC EX 5 – "POP 2"; Highest Graded SGC Example!

RUTH & GEHRIG!!!... One of the most coveted 1930s exhibit cards is the elusive 1934 "Four on One" Exhibit that includes Cooperstown Inductees babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Bill Dickey and Lefty Gomez. Seldom surfacing for the taking, most of the existing examples consist of low-grade quality, justifying why this SGC EX 5 "black tint" offering stands as one of the most significant copies of its kind. One of only two SGC encapsulated examples, it resides as the highest graded SGC specimen, with only two PSA 6s surpassing this mid-grade masterpiece. The 1934 "Four on One" Exhibit set includes 16 subjects, with the quartet of teammates printed in black, blue, green, blue, violet and brown tints. Of course, the most coveted and valuable subject is this offered keepsake that includes four Yankee Hall of Famers; including our National Pastime's greatest all-time dynamic duo Ruth and Gehrig. These two baseball icons teamed up to dominate the American League for a full decade (1925-34), capturing three world championships and testing the confines of every ballpark via their colossal round-trippers.

Of course, southpaw ace lefty Gomez and superstar catcher Bill Dickey were no slouches, rightfully earning an eternal place next to Ruth and Gehrig in Cooperstown, New York. The superior SGC 5 assessment is based on relatively clean surfaces (no glaring flaws are apparent), crystal clear clarity, near-perfect contrast, eye pleasing even corner wear, and a well-centered image. Yet, as most would agree, it is the sanctified portrait images of the Bambino and Iron Horse that steal the show. By 1934, Gehrig had become the potent force in the Yankees lineup by winning the AL Triple Crown, while only a year later, Ruth would shuffle off to Boston where he would ultimately retire in June 1935. Therefore, this pinnacle SGC Exhibit card truly represents the changing of the guard in the Big Apple, representing the final year these baseball gods would team up as America's finest all-time one-two punch!
