(LOT 1808)
Michael Jordan Retirement Celebration Banner from the City of Chicago

THANKS MICHAEL!!! The 1980s and '90s in the NBA was an era of greatness across the league as seemingly every team had a marquis superstar player. The Lakers had Magic and Kareem, the 76ers had Dr. J and Iverson, the Suns with Sir Charles, the Knicks, Patrick Ewing, Atlanta's Dominique Wilkins, the Twin Towers of San Antonio and, of course, Chicago's Michael Jordan. But Jordan was far and away the league's biggest star and most dynamic of all of the future Hall of Famers mentioned. With his acrobatic dunks, exceptional ball handling skills and all-around greatness that allowed him to take over a game made MJ arguably the greatest of all time.

From 1984 to 1998, His Airness won ten scoring titles, 14 All-Star nods, five NBA MVP award and six NBA championships, coupled with his six Finals MVP awards. He was the most dominant player in the NBA and Chicago proudly called him their own. When he ultimately retired, for the second time, as a Chicago Bull, Chicago mourned, but celebrated him with this amazing black and red canvas banner thanking the Bulls point guard for his extraordinary career. This 97" x 30" black banner featured a white image of MJ with a bold red "JORDAN" running perpendicular on the right side of the banner with "Thanks Michael! – 1984-1998" across the bottom in white. Also included is "City of Chicago – Richard M. Daley, Mayor" in white at the bottom.

This canvas light pole banner hung along the Chicago boulevards around the United Center and presents only minimal soiling due to handling. This is a fantastic tribute to Chicago's adopted son, considered the GOAT by most basketball enthusiasts, is a unique example of the Windy City's undying appreciation for what Michael Jordan meant, not only to the NBA, but the Chicago community at large. Wind slits are present and pole pockets are sewn at top and bottom.
