(LOT 1270)
c.1930s Original 8" x 10" Philadelphia Athletics World Series Champions Type 1 Photograph - PSA Encapsulated

The 1930 Philadelphia Athletics captured their second of three straight American League pennants and won their second consecutive World Series title over the St. Louis Cardinals. Connie Mack's A's outpaced the Washington Senators winning the pennant by eight games and only the New York Yankees out homered the A's, with Lou Gehrig (41) and Babe Ruth (49) accounting for nearly 60% of the dingers. But Philadelphia had Jimmie Foxx (37) and Al Simmons (36) who also led their team with 58% of the total home runs. But, don't discount the pitching as Philadelphia had two 20-game winners in George Earnshaw (22-13) and the 1930 pitching Triple Crown winner Lefty Grove (28-5). Offered is an original 8" x 10" Type 1 photograph of Connie Mack's championship squad. This PSA encased, borderless photo displays with moderate wear at the edges and in the background of the title team. A handful of worn lines are also visible cutting through the central image, though all of the subjects remain visible and evident. The reverse is strong with only light toning, but no visible flaws or defects.
