Ultra-Scarce 1933 Rittenhouse Candy E285 Babe Ruth "Ace of Spades" (Blue Tint) PSA 4 VG-EX - "Pop 2"; Only One PSA Example Graded Higher!
Presented here is one of Babe Ruth's rarest type cards extant, a superb PSA 4 VG-EX 1933 Rittenhouse Candy E285 blue tint "Ace of Spades" that along with a single other example has only been bested by a sole PSA specimen! Obscure to say the least, seldom do Rittenhouse cards surface for any player, let alone the unparalleled "Sultan of Swat", with only ten other Ruth "Ace of Spades" examples recorded on the PSA "Pop" Chart. In 1933, the Philadelphia-based Rittenhouse Candy Company issued a 52-subject "playing card" set, with the cards measuring approximately 1-7/16" x 2-1/4." Extremely rare, the set included 46 individual players, of which six were issued with multiple cards. The different card colors include red, orange, blue and green, with a facial image situated within the playing card shape (diamond, club, spade or heart), as well as the player's name included near the lower edge.

Of momentous note is that this issue is generally regarded as the "LAST" of the "E" card candy sets, with no further "E" card ACC designation assigned to subsequent sets. The card itself portrays a classic blue tint Bambino headshot within the centrally positioned "Spades" image, with only some negligible surface wear accounting for the mid-grade assessment. The flipside depicts the letter "U" that was part of a prize redemption promotion to spell out "RITTENHOUSE CANDY CO.", whereby those respective cards would be exchanged for a toy premium. Of course, the critical aspect is the Rittenhouse E285 set sufficing as the final ACC designated "E" card issue, with the potential value of this eclectic cardboard treasure unlimited in the current sports card market.
