1909-11 T206 Sweet Caporal Signed Davy Jones - JSA Autograph Authentic & SGC 1.5 Fair
Davy Jones earned the nickname the Kangaroo, by the press, as he was well known for jumping contracts and ultimately playing for at least ten different teams during his 15-year career. The speedy outfielder, who also happened to have a law degree, took full advantage of any loophole in a contract with which he was not comfortable. He was, however, able to stick with the Detroit Tigers long enough (1906-1912) to help lead them to three consecutive American League pennants. Offered here is a 1910 Sweet Caporal T206 Davy Jones SGC Fair 1.5/JSA Authenticated. The card displays in fair condition with visible creasing at his forehead and neck and signed "Yours Truly – Davy Jones" diagonally across his uniform in black (8-9). The reverse shows expected fading and surface abrasions for a 100-plus-year-old tobacco card. But, despite the card's fair condition, the signature is still as bold and clear as the day it was penned!
