(LOT 2068)
1909-11 T206 Piedmont Signed Rube Marquard Portrait - PSA/DNA Authentic

Some 110 years later, Rube Marquard's 1912 record of 19 straight wins without a loss to start the Major League season remains intact. This record stands alongside Joe DiMaggio's remarkable 56-game hitting streak from the 1941 season as one of baseball's likely unbreakable records. If you include his final starts of the 1911 season, when he earned a win and no-decision, Marquard had a 20-game win streak that lasted until Carl Hubbell tossed 24-straight wins in 1936 and '37. Though his 201 victories do not place him among the top pitchers in the Hall of Fame, Rube's records and mound prowess helped lead to his HOF induction given his pitching exploits were often overshadowed by Giants ace Christy Mathewson commanding the headlines. Offered here is a 1909-11 Piedmont 350/25 Rube Marquard Portrait example boldly signed in blue across his New York Giants jersey. The card bears some surface abrasions, creasing and rounded corners presenting in Poor condition. But while this PSA/DNA Authentic certified card may not merit inclusion in the elitist of T206 collections, the autograph of the Hall of Famer still stands tall and remains in striking condition. Take a chance on this card and add it to your Hall of Fame autograph collection today!
