Cincinnati Reds 1963 Opening Day Ticket Stub Red Variation - Pete Rose's MLB Debut - PSA 3 VG

Pete Rose took the Cincinnati Reds and National League by storm in 1963 as he, quite literally, ran away with the NL Rookie of the Year Award hitting .273 with 170 hits, 101 runs, 41 RBI and 13 stolen bases. The rookie second baseman soon became the cornerstone around which a championship Cincinnati Reds team was built. Rose took full advantage of the opportunity when Reds second baseman Don Blasingame injured his groin in spring training. On April 8, 1963, Opening Day in Cincinnati, Rose manned second base in his first Major League regular season game. In his MLB debut, Rose walked, grounded out, reached on an error and struck out looking in four plate appearances, a nervous beginning to a Hall of Fame worthy career. Five days later in Cincinnati's fourth game of the season, Pete Rose notched his first hit of an amazing 4,256 for his career. Offered here is a Cincinnati Reds Red Variation Ticket stub from Pete Rose's MLB Debut graded 3 VG by PSA, which is one of two in the VG holder, with no others ever graded. Almost as if aware of the significance, the Reds usher expertly tore this bright reddish/pink ticket from Opening Day 1963. This 1963 Opening Day stub was the start of one of the greatest careers in professional baseball, long before controversy clouded decades of Rose tormenting National League pitchers.
