1924 Columbia University Yearbook Featuring Lou Gehrig
In 1921, Lou Gehrig entered Columbia University intending to pursue a career as an engineer. But the baseball gods had something more in store for the big left-handed first baseman. Though starring in football and baseball for the Lions, "Columbia Lou", was forced to forgo much of his collegiate career and graduation in order to turn professional when his father became ill in 1923. Gehrig left Columbia, signing with the New York Yankees on April 30, 1923 and the rest, as they say, is history.

Despite his departure in 1923, the 1924 Columbian, Columbia University's yearbook, featured Gehrig and his teammates and in-action shots of the Lions at the South Field. The offered is the 1924 Columbian yearbook with Lou Gehrig and the baseball team highlighted on page 278. Interior pages appear to be in good condition with minor handling and paging wear. The leather bound cover shows heavy wear at the edges, particularly at the binding, which reveals cracking, separation and paper loss.
