(LOT 680)
1952 World Series Game#7 – Mantle Belts Go-Ahead Home Run in 6th Inning – United Press Association Type I Photo – Measures Approx. 7" x 9" - PSA Type 1 Encapsulation

In 1952, the N.Y. Yankees win their fourth consecutive World Series, besting the Brooklyn Dodgers in a tightly contested 7-game match. Second year Yankee star Mickey Mantle would be one of the stars of the 7th game when in the top of the 6th inning at Ebbets Field he broke a 2-2 tie with a solo homer off of Preacher Roe. The Yankees would hold on to beat Brooklyn 4-2 and clinch their fourth consecutive title. Mantle would stroke 10 hits to the tune of a stellar .345 series batting average with his 2 round-trippers the first of his record setting 18 World Series dingers.

This intense Type 1 offering portrays the mighty "Commerce Comet" being congratulated by his ecstatic teammates after walloping the go-ahead 6th inning homer, with Yogi Berra (wearing shin-guards) to "Mick's far right and Billy Martin and Casey Stengel both situated in the far left. The extremely well-centered 7" x 9" image has eluded any major flaws, revealing a relatively clean surface and a verso that includes the critical detailed caption and United Press Association credit stamp. A magnificent keepsake representing Mantle's game winning 1952 Fall Classic home run, it stands as a sheer testament to "The Mick's" clutch October performances that led the Yankees to 12 pennants and 7 world championships during his legendary 18-year career!
