1929 Babe Ruth All-American Team – International Newsreel Type 1 Photo – Measures 8" x 10" - PSA Type 1 Encapsulation
It is no secret that legendary sports agent Christy Walsh moved from California to New York to seek out representing the most charismatic superstar in al of sports, that being George Herman "Babe" Ruth. Therefore, it came as little surprise that when Walsh created an "All-American Baseball Board" with Ruth as its Chairman, whereby the finest baseball players were chosen for Ruth's "All-American Team" and awarded certificates for their playing excellence. Presented here is a magnificent 8" x 10" photo depicting the "Sultan of Swat" with his 1929 All-American Team including from left to right: Al Simmons, Hack Wilson, Lefty Grove, Babe Ruth (in formal attire), Pie Traynor (likewise in formal attire), Guy Bush, Mickey Cochrane, Rogers Hornsby and Jimmy Foxx!
Indeed, the Bambino certainly selected a laundry list of baseball's greatest stars with eight of the nine players Cooperstown Inductees! Near-perfect resolution and contrast elevate the image to world-class stature with only the few negligible stray wrinkles (including a vertical crease near the upper right border) and some paper "rippling" (primarily near the upper border) not impeding upon the sparkling central image. Th verso includes the critical 10/10/29 caption providing details of the image as well as a light International Newsreel credit stamp. A seldom surfacing artifact, it portrays an abundance of our National Pastime's greatest pre-WWII legends including the finest of them all, George Herman "Babe" Ruth!
