c.1949 Jackie Robinson "Batting Image" - PSA Type I ACME Newspictures Photo – Measures Approx. 7" x 9" - PSA Type 1 Encapsulation

Jackie Robinson "mania" is spreading rampart throughout the hobby and why not! In lieu of his 1947 uniform and contracts having recently sold for staggering prices, his name currently stands right alongside the likes of Ruth, Cobb, Jackson, Mantle, and other iconic hobby figures. No one would argue that one of our Nation's most iconic moments ever was when the immortal Jackie Robinson broke the Major League's color barrier in 1947, courtesy of the unbridled courage portrayed by both Robinson and the Brooklyn Dodgers Legendary a General Manager Branch Rickey.

That monumental occurrence changed not only baseball forever, but more significantly a racially driven country that unknowingly thirsted for such and epic occurrence to discourage a myriad of American's from the senseless bigotry that ruled a majority of their lives. It is with no surprise that Hall of Famer Jackie Robinson's collectibles continue to skyrocket every day, with this surge taking off right after his historic "42" box office smash was released and opened the floodgates to an already lucrative Jackie Robinson collectibles market. One of those fine mementos is presented here; an outstanding Type I PSA encapsulated ACME NEWSPICTURES c.1949 photo of Jackie Robinson revealing his classic batting swing as he dons his Brooklyn Dodgers home uniform, with the iconic Ebbets Field residing as a perfect setting.

Measuring approximately 7" x 9", this image portrays the finest imaginable contrast and crystal-clear clarity, and other than some stray faint creases near three of the four borders, the illustration has stubbornly defied "Father Time". The verso includes a period written pencil notation reading: "Jackie Robinson – 7/19/49", pinpointing the image to the 1949 season which would ultimately be Jackie's only MVP campaign. earning the award via his 124 R.B.I.'s, 37 stolen bases, remarkable defensive play and claiming the National League batting title with a stellar .342 mark!
