(LOT 82)
The Holy Grail of Nodders -- 1962 Houston Colt 45s Black Face "Realistic Face Version"

The Houston Colt .45s were a short lived MLB Team in the 60's. This 1962 Black faced Nodder is among the rarest in the Nodder family. In the 60's, Nodders were created with either a Realistic Face or Traditional Face on a green round that stood 6-1/2"-tall. This "Black Faced Nodder" is the Realistic Faced version and is absolutely stunning in terms of its limited population and pristine (NM+) condition. Showcasing vibrant team colors (including a silver-painted pistol around its waist), this piece is highlighted by a perfect "H" decal (on the cap) and "HOUSTON" (on the base).

There were several variations of the "Black Face," with figures dressed either in uniforms reading "Colts" (as offered here) or with the "C" in the form of smoke coming from a pistol underneath, and either holding a silver pistol (as here) or throwing a ball with one hand and a glove on the other. Our research indicates only a handful of this variation are known to exist today. No restoration whatsoever, this Nodder has the 1962 Made in Japan stamping on the underside. Offered here is the HOLY GRAIL of Nodders in NM+ condition!!!
