(LOT 126)
c.1930's Lou Gehrig Original Type 1 Snapshot - Measures Approx. 2-1/2" x 3-1/2"" Full PSA Type 1 LOA

Considered the greatest first baseman in baseball history, Henry Louis Gehrig represented so much more than a great ballplayer. His unparalleled standing extends beyond the diamond for it was his embodiment of courage, via his tragically conceived ALS illness, that constitutes his legacy. The coupled 2,130 consecutive game-streak thru 14 seasons and his untimely death in 1941 ultimately made him an American icon, and it for these reasons alone his memorabilia is highly coveted by vintage hobbyists. This superb 2-1/2" x 3-1/2' original Type 1 snapshot taken in the 1930's suffices as one of those sort after mementos, vividly portraying the Iron Horse in his Yankee road uniform in a leisurely moment before game time. The well-centered image emanates fine sepia-toned contrast and clarity, with the white borders and surface retaining a majority of their original attributes. No glaring flaws are evident on either side, with only a negligible diagonal wrinkle situated along the upper border. A classic representation of the immortal Gehrig, it would make a truly outstanding addition to any superior photo gathering! - Full PSA Type I LOA
