c.1920's Lou Gehrig w/His Parents Christina & Henry Gehrig - PSA Type I International Newsreel Photo Measures Approx. 8" x 10" Full PSA Type 1 LOA

The legacy of Henry Louis Gehrig will outlast eternity, with this iconic baseball hero forever embedded in the hearts and minds of his seemingly infinite fan base. His tragic death at the tender age of 37 in June 1941 sent a shockwave of emotion throughout the baseball community, with his hallowed name still triggering a tranquil sea of emotions within our illustrious hobby. Gehrig was the quiet hero, steadfastly going about his business on a daily basis without a shred of adoration required by the hallowed 1st baseman, and when he delivered his "Luckiest Man on the Face of the Earth" speech before over 60,000 faithful fans at Yankee Stadium, there wasn't a dry eye in the house! It is no secret that Gehrig worshiped two things in his life: his wife Eleanor who was his cherished companion as well as his loving parents Christina and Henry Sr.

In fact, Lou adored his mom to such an extent that it eventually led to his feud with Babe Ruth due to some negative remarks "The Babe" made about Christina Gehrig, with the two Yankee immortals finally putting their differences aside when Ruth gave Gehrig a colossal hug on Lou Gehrig day July 4, 1939. Presented here is a heart-warming image of Lou Gehrig and his parents most likely taken before a game at Yankee Stadium during the 1920's by Newsreel International. Measuring a solid 8' x 10", it depicts the finest possibly contrast and resolution, as Gehrig appears to be engaging in a good-natured conversation with his treasured parents. Remarkably, no glaring surface flaws are evident, and the verso includes the significant International Newsreel credit stamp as well as a Christy Walsh Syndicate stamp near the upper left edge. An extremely eclectic "Iron Horse" offering, it rekindles memories of the monumental level that Gehrig truly worshiped his parents; such to the point that he lovingly addressed them in his "Luckiest Man" farewell speech, blinking back the tears and so eloquently stating: "When you have a father and a mother who work all their lives so you can have an education and build your body it's a blessing ".
