(LOT 82)
1949 Brooklyn Dodgers Team - Type I Original ACME Newspictures Photo – Measures Approx. 7" x 9" - PSA Type 1 Encapsulation

The 1949 Brooklyn Dodgers were "stacked", to say the least, with a myriad of superstars that led them to the National League pennant via their 97 victories. An incredible seven Dodgers would make the N.L. All-Star team that season including Jackie Robinson, Pee Wee Reese, Ralph Branca, Roy Campanella, Gil Hodges, Don Newcombe and Preacher Roe, with Robinson claiming the 1949 Most Valuable Player Award and Newcombe named the Rookie of the Year. Led by manager Burt Shotton, the Dodgers bested St. Louis by a single game to win the N.L. championship, unfortunately falling short to the New York Yankees in the World Series.

This offered team photo of the 1949 Brooklyn Dodgers stands as a stellar testament for that formidable club, and depicts the finest possible contrast and clarity. Of utmost significance, the iconic Jackie Robinson is standing second from the left in the top row, only two years removed from his earth-shattering 1947 Major League debut. The only flaws worthy of mention are some light notations along the lower border, a diminutive left corner chip and some modest soiling spots directly above the lower right border. The final stamp of approval is the verso's renowned ACME Newspictures credit stamp, with this rather obscure Brooklyn team image seldom surfacing for the taking! - PSA Type I Encapsulation
