(LOT 86)
C.1920's Tony Lazzeri PSA Type 1 Charles Conlon Photo – Measures Approx. 6-1/2" x 8-1/2" – PSA Type 1 LOA

This circa 1920's photo of the New York Yankees Hall of Fame second-sacker Tony Lazzeri merits superb hobby accolades since it was struck by immortal photographer Charles M. Conlon. No one would argue that along with Horner, Bain and Thompson, photos taken by Conlon reside as some of the foremost collectibles in our illustrious hobby. Conlon was arguably the "king" photographer from the 1910's and 1920's, and this outstanding Lazzeri offering resides as another example of his unparalleled work. Regarding the great Tony Lazzeri, his place is firmly etched in baseball history via his immortal stature as one of the Yankee's "Murderer's Row" fearsome sluggers (along with Ruth, Gehrig, Combs and Meusel), ably assisting the mighty Yankees to win two consecutive championships in 1927/1928.

Likewise, this imposing image portrays championship style character via the breathtaking Lazzeri portrait pose that emanates remarkable contrast and clarity. The central image depicts no glaring surface flaws, whatsoever, with the only negligible blemishes being a lower left border chip, some staining along the right border, and an upper border diminutive tear. The reverse side reveals the hallowed Charles M. Conlon credit stamp as well as Tony Lazzeri's name scripted in pencil by none other than Conlon himself. A remarkable heirloom, it literally transcends time to an era when the New York Yankees dominated our National Pastime! - Full PSA Type I LOA
