(LOT 149)
1947 Jackie Robinson Type I Original Rookie ACME News Photo – "April 11, 1947 Exhibition Game vs. the N.Y. Yankees" - Measures Approx. 7-1/4" x 9" - Full PSA Type 1 LOA

Presented here is one of the most incredible Jackie Robinson photos in the hobby; a breathtaking April 11, 1947 image of a leaping Robinson 1st base fielding-pose at Ebbets Field against the Yankees! Indeed, considering Robinson's major league debut was April 15, 1947, this image pre-dates that inaugural game, with this photo's reverse side caption providing undisputed details of the Dodger's 14-6 victory that April 11th day. Interestingly enough, this offering must clearly suffice as one of the earliest Jackie Robinson Brooklyn Dodger photos extant!

No one would argue that one of our National Pastime's most iconic moments ever was when the immortal Jackie Robinson broke the Major League's color barrier in 1947, courtesy of the unbridled courage portrayed by both Robinson and the Brooklyn Dodgers legendary General Manager Branch Rickey. That monumental occurrence changed not only baseball, but all of professional sports for eternity. It is with no surprise that Hall of Famer Jackie Robinson's collectibles continue to skyrocket every day, especially in lieu of the historic "42" box office smash that opened the floodgates to an already lucrative Jackie Robinson collectibles market. This awe-inspiring 7-1/4" x 9" black & white image depicts the great Robinson donning his Dodgers home uniform and leaping to snare a high throw at 1st base as he portrays his unparalleled athletic ability.

The finest possible crystal-clear clarity and contrast elevate the photo to world class status with no obtrusive creasing/flaws impeding the classic pose. A few surface nicks are barely visible to the naked eye, the borders are bright white and the verso reveals the critical aforementioned caption and light ACME stamp. Designated as an original Type I photo by PSA, it stands as a sheer testament to Jackie Robinson's embodiment of courage that would forever change the face of our National Pastime! - Full PSA Type I LOA
