(LOT 109)
T206 Joe Tinker "Portrait" – Piedmont 150 Subjects/Factory 25 (PSA NM/MT 8) - "1 of 2" Piedmonts; NO Piedmonts Graded Higher!

Presented here is the legendary Hall of Fame Chicago Cubs shortstop Joe Tinker in his T206 "Portrait" version. This astonishing PSA 8 offering is one of only two "Piedmont Cigarette" copies identified on the PSA "Pop" chart with NONE graded higher! Renowned Cooperstown inductee Joe Tinker achieved his immortality via his legendary status as the first link of the iconic Chicago Cub's double play combination "Tinker to Evers to Chance", and synonymous with Tinker's aforementioned prestige is this near-immaculate T206 PSA 8 gem that appears to have just been released by an ATC factory.

Ultra-rare in this grade, Tinker's classic Carl Horner portrait pose is affixed to a strikingly rich crimson red background, with the contrast and sparkling colors schemes of his facial hues, period hair style and Cub's uniform virtually impeccable. The well-centered image resides between four snow-white borders, and the extremely sharp edging includes four pinpoint corner tips that have withstood the test of time. Super clean surfaces, and a bold midnight blue "Piedmont 150 Subjects" verso complete this pristine-like offering that merits the highest hobby accolades, especially considering no Tinker Portrait subject has achieved a Mint 9 grade, regardless of its advertisement back!
