(LOT 7)
1967 Topps #400 Roberto Clemente (PSA Gem Mint 10) - One of Only 2 Highest Graded Examples!

It is virtually inconceivable that of the 2,700+ PSA encapsulated 1967 Topps Clemente's, only 2 examples have managed to achieve the hallowed Gem Mint 10 assessment! With that in mind, we cannot imagine a more fitting tribute to the iconic Hall of Fame right fielder's legacy than to offer one of those two Gem Mint 10 specimens. The legendary Roberto Clemente is worshiped by the Hispanic baseball community at a similar level that Jackie Robinson was to all African Americans.

In fact, both their iconic legacies extend far past their racial heritage since both players stand as two of the greatest performers in baseball history. Clemente's accomplishments are seemingly endless, including a .317 lifetime batting average, 3,000 career hits, the 1966 regular season MVP award, four batting titles, 12 consecutive gold glove awards, and if that isn't enough, in 1971 he won the World Series MVP when he virtually single handedly dominated the Baltimore Orioles in both the batter's box and right field.

Yet, as is the case with the immortal Lou Gehrig, he will best be remembered for his tragic death when, after the 1972 season, his plane crashed carrying supplies to assist earthquake victims in Nicaragua. The near-impossible "10" grade is justified by Clemente's "spine-tingling" near-perfectly centered portrait image, pristine colored hues including the popular violet "PIRATES" lower text, blinding white borders, razor sharp corner tips and flawless surfaces.

Atypical for any 1967 card is the lack of a skewed or tilted image that is the standard stigma for any 1967 Topps baseball subject. If you are seeking cardboard perfection for one of baseball's greatest players to ever grace a diamond, then this unfathomable 1967 Topps Clemente keepsake is the one for you!
