Truman signed this postmarked envelope in a black fountain pen, postmarked on his inauguration day - January 20th, 1949. Truman implemented the Marshall Plan in the wake of World War II to rebuild the economy of Western Europe. He established both the Truman Doctrine and NATO. Prior to entering politics, Truman was a farmer and a haberdasher.
