c.1910 Hughie Jennings PSA Type 1 Encapsulated Carl Horner Photo Used for 7 Jennings Cards - Measures Approx. 4" x 6"

TYPE 1 JENNINGS FOR 7 CARDS!!! This spectacular circa 1910 Hughie Jennings PSA Type 1 photo was issued by the legendary photographer Carl Horner, and most significantly, it is the exact image used for Jennings' iconic 1909-11 T206 Portrait; 1909 E90-1 American Caramel; 1910 E103 Williams Caramel; 1910 E96 Philadelphia Caramel; 1911 M116 Sporting Life (blue & pastel) and 1902-11 W600 Sporting Life Cabinet. Of course, any original photo taken by Carl Horner is worthy of elite status, let alone one utilized for SEVEN prestigious Hughie Jennings cards. This prominent Hall of Famer played a major role in leading the Orioles to three consecutive pennants from 1894–1896, even batting .401 in a single season.

Yet, for all of his on the field accomplishments, he is still widely renowned for his managerial stint with the Detroit Tigers, where he won three consecutive pennants from 1907–1909. His portrait portrayal is absolutely breathtaking, exhibiting the finest possible crystal-clear clarity and contrast. Other than some scattered toning and some negligible faint wrinkles barely visible to the naked eye, the magnificent image appears as if it is about to jump off the photo, actually revealing almost 3D effect. Of utmost significance, the lower left quadrant reflects a "Horner – Boston" embossment, a trademark attribute for Horner photos that are not attached to a backside mount. The verso includes numerous "Brown Brothers" credit stamps, with this renowned photographic company utilizing many of Carl Horner's photos after their initial release.

Extremely rare, most of the Horner Type 1 portrait images used for T206 subjects issued from 1909 through 1911 are Horner cabinets, with a minimal number of Horner original T206 illustrations presented in a non-Cabinet format. To reiterate, this Cooperstown-worthy offering proudly boasts the precise image hobbyists see on Hughie Jennings T206 Portrait subject as well as his E90-1 American Caramel, E103 Williams Caramel, E96 Philadelphia Caramel, M116 (blue & pastel) and W600 Sporting Life issues. It's no secret that one of the most compelling collecting angles for photo enthusiasts is assembling Type 1 images used for prominent pre-war cards, and the world-class combination of Horner & Jennings affiliated with an astounding seven prestigious pre-WW1 subjects would make any collector jump at the opportunity to add this miraculous masterpiece to their esteemed collection!
