(LOT 157)
1932 U.S. Caramel #32 Babe Ruth PSA 2 (MK) Good

CALLED SHOT CAMPAIGN!!! This PSA 2 (MK) Babe Ruth 1932 U.S. Caramel's obscure existence pales in comparison versus the myriad of existing 1933 Goudey Ruths. This is justified by roughly 150 PSA encapsulated U.S. Caramel Ruths versus a substantial 5,400+ PSA Goudey Ruths for all four subjects (an average of some 1,350 per subject!). Simple math tells us that the 1932 U.S. Caramel Ruth PSA population is only 11% of a single Goudey Ruth, substantiating why this obscure Ruth is a most significant offering. Collectors are catching on to the relative scarcity of the U.S. Caramel Ruth, with a PSA 8 fetching $200,000 in a Spring 2023 public auction. Ruth's eclectic portrait pose is unique for the U.S. Caramel subject, with no other Ruth issue depicting this classic image. Also scarce is the GEORGE "BABE" RUTH text above his Yankees cap, with scattered soiling/toning, some stray creases and even corner wear accounting for the assessment. Accounting for the "MK" qualifier is an extremely light pencil scripted name situated along the verso's lower edge. Regardless, the fine front side aesthetics as well as this issue's fractional existence versus its Goudey peers place this caramel treat as one of the Sultan of Swat's most significant cardboard keepsakes!
