(LOT 222)
1933 Goudey #207 Signed Mel Ott (PSA AUTO 9 MINT) – Only 5 PSA Encapsulated Examples! – Includes a JSA/James Spence Auction LOA

The more popular of the two Met Ott 1933 Goudey subjects is the highly-coveted #207 batting pose, presented here with a world-class PSA "9 MINT" autograph grade! Its true paucity level is substantiated by PSA's population report listing only four other signed #207 Ott examples, placing this museum worthy offering as one of the most significant scripted Goudey subjects. Ott's sudden passing at the tender age of 49 (November 21, 1958) left a serious void in the number of signed Mel Ott collectibles, especially his desirable baseball cards that seldom surface with a "Mel Ott" signature. This incredible offering presents one of the finest black fountain pen Mel Ott baseball-card autographs extant, a bold and neatly scripted "Mel Ott" signature directly across his white jersey.

Its perfect placement allows the autograph to literally "jump-off" the card, justifying the "9 Mint" PSA grade and ably assisted by the card's superb technical attributes depicting "VG" aesthetics. Both the front and back surfaces have eluded any glaring flaws, and the even corner wear portrays a super eye pleasing uniformity. For a considerable amount of time, Hall of Famer Mel Ott was considered the Babe Ruth of the National League, with his 511-lifetime round trippers residing as the Senior Circuit's top figure until Mays became the first National Leaguer to eclipse his mark. Best remembered for his high right leg kick utilized as a timing mechanism for his unorthodox swing, his hobby legacy is forever set in stone via this extraordinary signed Goudey heirloom that merits the highest hobby accolades!
