(LOT 128)
Don Baylor's 1986 Boston Red Sox A.L. Championship Ring

Before the Red Sox would move on to the unparalleled drama of their heart-wrenching 1986 World Series loss to the N.Y. Mets, they would experience sheer ecstasy by miraculously overcoming a 3-1 deficit against the California Angels in the ALCS. In game #5, the Red Sox were down 5-2 entering the ninth inning, and remarkably scored 4 runs off of ace closer Donnie Moore to take the lead, with Don Baylor's and Dave Henderson's 2-run round-trippers accounting for all the runs (Henderson's dramatic homer was with two outs and two strikes!).

Unfortunately, the Angels would tie the game at 6-all in their half of the ninth, sending the game into extra innings. In the top of the 11th, this dynamic duo would strike again with Baylor eventually scoring the game winning run on, ironically, Henderson's sacrifice fly. The Bo-Sox would capture the next two games, winning game #7 by an 8-1 score behind the strong pitching of Roger Clemens and capturing the American League Championship. As a sensational keepsake from that historic 1986 ALCS, presented here is Don Baylor's Boston Red Sox ALCS Championship 10 Karat gold ring. This unique approximate 33-gram/11.5 sized offering includes the classic 'B" logo with 15 diamonds that is affixed to a brilliant ruby red/pink hued stone. Encompassing the stone is the standard "AMERICAN LEAGUE CHAMPIONS" raised lettering with the left side shank depicting "1986", RED SOX-4; ANGELS-3, and a simulated image of Fenway Park.

The right shank includes BAYLOR'S name, the classic BOSTON RED SOX LOGO. Its final attributes are the "LG8" and "10K" engraved stampings on the inner band, with this ring only revealing a few stray diminutive scratches barely visible to the naked eye and presenting itself in NM/MT fashion. A sensational heirloom from Baylor's esteemed collection, it conjures up vivid memories of how the Red Sox incredibly claimed the 1986 ALCS after being down 3-1, with Baylor's heroic efforts one of the main drivers in their unfathomable comeback!
