NEW YORK YANKEES 2024; Museum; Cardboard Legends

The New York Yankees Museum, presented by Bank of America, is a premier destination for baseball enthusiasts and fans of the storied franchise.

A Treasure Trove of Yankees History
Opened in 2009 alongside the new Yankee Stadium, the museum was envisioned as a “Cooperstown South,” bringing the legacy of the Yankees closer to their fans in the Bronx. The museum’s centerpiece is a tribute to Don Larsen’s perfect game in the 1956 World Series, featuring a commemorative home plate and statues of Larsen pitching to Yogi Berra. Among the permanent exhibits is the “Ball Wall,” displaying hundreds of autographed baseballs from past and present Yankees players. A touch-screen “Yankees Ball Finder” allows visitors to locate specific players’ balls on the wall. Thurman Munson’s locker, preserved from the old stadium, stands as a poignant tribute to the late captain. The museum also houses seven Commissioner’s Trophies, representing the Yankees’ World Series championships from 1977 to 2009. Additionally, visitors can view a collection of World Series rings and other significant artifacts, including game-used equipment and uniforms from legendary players.

Rotating Exhibits and Special Collections
To keep the experience fresh, the museum features rotating exhibits that highlight key players, events, and themes in Yankees history. Notable displays have included items from the Marshall Fogel Collection, featuring over 80 historic pieces of game-used equipment and vintage baseball cards. Interactive exhibits celebrate the achievements of icons like Babe Ruth, Mickey Mantle, and Mariano Rivera, providing insights into their contributions to the team’s legacy. These exhibits not only honor individual accomplishments but also explore the broader cultural impact of the Yankees on New York City and beyond.

Visiting the Museum
The New York Yankees Museum is open to fans attending home games, with hours starting 90 minutes prior to the first pitch and closing at the end of the 8th inning. Additionally, the museum is a regular stop on all Yankee Stadium Classic Tours, Group Tours, and Pregame Tours, offering visitors an in-depth look at the team’s history and the stadium’s iconic features.

For those planning a visit, the museum provides an engaging and educational experience, celebrating over a century of Yankees baseball and its enduring legacy.
