1ST GOLD GLOVE YEAR!!! Willie Mays captured his first of 12 consecutive Gold Gloves in 1957 with a .980 fielding percentage and 14 assists while committing only four errors in center field for the New York Giants. His fourth-place finish for National League MVP was highlighted by league-leading totals in stolen bases (38) and slugging (.626), but also finishing second in batting average (.333), fourth in homers (35) and hits (195), third in runs scored (112) and fifth in RBIs (97). He was the unquestionable best player in the game, with all due respect to Mickey Mantle, Ted Williams and Hank Aaron. Presented here is a 1958 Topps #5 Willie Mays graded 8 NM-MT by PSA. The Say Hey Kid’s image is near perfectly framed within four snow-white borders against a brilliant sky-blue background. With stupendously sharp edging and corners, this wonderfully clean and clear Willie Mays issue is sure to highlight any 1958 Topps gathering. Light snow is visibly on the face, but otherwise this issue is pristine and would likely garner an 8.5 or 9 assessment to be sure. Don’t let this Willie Mays from ’58 slip through your fingers.
