(LOT 785)
T206 Brown Hindu Nap Lajoie "Portrait" (PSA 2) - "1 of 3 PSA Copies"; Only 1 PSA Example Graded Higher!

This superb PSA 2 "Brown Hindu" Napoleon Lajoie offering merits serious attention from any avid T206 enthusiast attempting to assemble a myriad of the scarcer advertisement backs. Justifying Brown Hindu's condition sensitivity is the fact that this "Good/2" assessment has only been joined by 2 other PSA examples with only a single PSA specimen graded higher! Most collectors will easily settle for tough cigarette ad backs associated with common players, however, when a "Brown Hindu" specimen appears carrying the hallowed Lajoie image, advanced enthusiasts take immediate notice.

Along with Rogers Hornsby and Eddie Collins, Lajoie is considered one of the greatest 2nd baseman of all-time. His batting excellence earned him the Triple Crown in 1901, a season he batted an astonishing .426, a modern day Major League record! Likewise, this seldom-surfacing T206 likeness of the Indians legendary star exhibits incredible aesthetics for the assigned grade including a sensational Carl Horner portrait pose. A radiant yellow background encompasses the well-centered image, and no glaring surface flaws are evident on either side.

Uniform corner wear and some stray wrinkles appear to be the only visible blemishes, with the card's overall aesthetics consistent with any "VG" example. The final compliment is a bold Brown Hindu verso for an extremely desirable T206 memento that provides the collector with both the classic Lajoie portrait pose and obscure Brown Hindu advertisement!
