(LOT 1795)
1927 New York Giants Team-Signed Baseball with Hornsby & Rookie Era Ott - Beckett LOA

'27 GIANTS!!! Coming off a 1926 season which the New York Giants finished fifth in the National League, 13-1/2 games behind the World Series champion St. Louis Cardinals, John McGraw traded for the best player in the NL, St. Louis' Rogers Hornsby. Though Hornsby did not turn out to be the savior, serving as second baseman and player/manager for 33 games, he was able to lead them to a 3rd place finish while leading the NL in runs (133), walks (86) on-base percentage (.448) and hitting an exceptional .361. But Rogers was not the lone star that the Giants rostered as fellow Hall of Famers included Burleigh Grimes, Travis Jackson, Edd Roush, Bill Terry, Mel Ott and the aforementioned John McGraw. The offered 1927 New York Giants team-signed baseball is striking and outstanding. This incredible Official National League (John Heydler) Spalding baseball consists of a steady overall creamy toning with 25 jet black fountain pen signatures. The sweet spot includes Hornsby and McGraw, the latter of which was deemed clubhouse, and Grimes, Jackson, Roush and Terry are the featured signatures on the subsequent panel. The East panel features a rookie era Melvin Ott autograph. Signatures range from "7-9" strength overall with no obtrusive flaws detracting from the beauty of this nearly century old sphere. Beckett LOA.

Sweet Spot: Rogers Hornsby, John McGraw (Clubhouse) & Larry Benton.
North Panel: Al DeVormer, Bullet Joe Bush, Virgil Barnes, Herb Thomas, Burleigh Grimes, Jack Cummings, Zack Taylor & Roger Bresnahan.
South Panel: Freddie Lindstrom, Fred Fitzsimmons, George Harper, (STAMP – John Heydler – Pres. – N.L.), Andy Reese & one unknown.
East Panel: Wm. (Bill) Terry, Bill Clarkson, Travis Jackson, Melvin Ott (rookie era), Heinie Miller, Dutch Henry & one unknown.
West Panel: Edd Roush, (August/July) 14, 1927, Don Songer.
