1964 Topps Stand-Up Mickey Mantle PSA 9 MINT
The highly coveted 1964 Topps Stand-Up set represented the first time this prestigious company issued die-cut cards since their 1951 Connie Mack All-Stars compilation. Once again, a die-cut region was utilized to fold up the player's upper body, with the 1964 issue utilizing a yellow and green surface background. Like virtually all post-war gatherings, the most desirable and valuable player is Mickey Mantle, presented here in an extraordinary PSA 9 MINT holder, joined by nine other examples as the highest graded on the PSA Pop Chart! One of the more eclectic 1960s Topps issues, high-grade examples seldom surface for the taking, with a previous PSA 9 Mantle fetching more than $17K in 2022, which Memory Lane was proud to offer.

In 1964, the Yankees returned to the Fall Classic for the fifth consecutive season, and while they would fall short to the St. Louis Cardinals in a tightly contested seven-game series, the Commerce Comet would once again shine by walloping his 16th World Series home run in Game 3, breaking Babe Ruth's all-time record of 15 dingers in World Series play. Mantle would ultimately blast two more homers (in games 6 & 7) to bring his record-breaking home run mark to 18, still the highest number ever accumulated by a single player in World Series play. This card displays remarkable high-grade caliber, starting with Mantle's left-handed swinging pose, surrounded by an extremely bold yellow and green background, and the razor-sharp perimeter includes four pinpoint corners. All of the text portrays vivid registration, and we simply cannot detect any noticeable flaws on this museum-worthy masterpiece that has remained in its original pristine state, proudly residing as the finest of its kind!
