1959 Bazooka Complete Box Mickey Mantle PSA 1 PR
RARE MICKEY BOX!!! In 1959, the Bazooka Candy brands introduced Major League Baseball players and NFL players on the outside of the bubble gum boxes available in candy and department stores. This was the first year in more than a decade that Bazooka placed star ballplayers on their packaging and these hand-cut issues have become highly coveted in the hobby, especially in high-grade. In '59, Bazooka reserved 5" x 2-3/4" of the back panel of their bubble gum boxes for MLB & NFL stars, and at the time few athletes were more popular than New York Yankees Mickey Mantle, baseball's biggest star and subsequently the biggest draw of this inaugural release. The offered is not just the '59 Mantle card, but the complete box. Showing moderate display and storage wear, border and edge soiling, and minor surface abrasions, the box also presents heavy back creasing, but little can take away from the central image of The Mick himself. One of only four ever encapsulated by PSA.
