(LOT 49)
Babe Ruth, A.B. "Happy" Chandler and William Harridge Multi-Signed ONL Baseball PSA/DNA LOA

This extraordinary signed baseball comes with a fascinating provenance, freshly acquired and straight from the original owner's hands. It features the signatures of baseball legends Babe Ruth, Albert "Happy" Chandler (2nd Commissioner of Baseball from 1945 to 1951, inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1982), and William Harridge (President of the American League from 1931 to 1959, instrumental in creating the Baseball All-Star Game in 1933, and elected to the Hall of Fame by the Veterans Committee in 1972). The signatures are beautifully inscribed in blue fountain pen on this Official National League Baseball.

The story behind this baseball is just as captivating. In the summer of 1948, Major League Baseball All-Stars played a charity game at Wrigley Field in Los Angeles, featuring pitchers Bob Feller and Satchel Paige, with Paige's team winning 1-0. Following that game, a Babe Ruth League game took place, where George M. Dickinson, affectionately known as "Pop," served as the plate umpire. After the game, Happy Chandler approached Pop and asked if he would umpire the upcoming All-Star Championship Babe Ruth League Game, which featured All-Star teams from every state. After officiating that championship game, Pop received this autographed baseball from Babe Ruth and Happy Chandler. Tragically, Babe Ruth passed away later that same year, making this baseball an extraordinary piece of baseball history. Comes with an LOA from PSA/DNA.
