1911 T3 Turkey Red Cabinets #9 Ty Cobb Checklist Back (No Offer) PSA 4 VG-EX
RARE GEORGIA PEACH!!!... For a career, it is arguable that no player was more dominant than the feisty and furious Ty Cobb. From the first time he batted .300 or better, his 2nd season, Cobb averaged .368. Aside from that 2nd year, his batting average never dipped below .323 and he led the AL 12 times in average including nine straight years (1907-15). Though Babe Ruth was the more powerful during their overlapping careers, Cobb was consistent and dominant, capturing the Triple Crown in 1909 and the AL MVP in 1911. He also stole 897 bases, to the Babe's 123 swipes. Over 24 years playing the outfield for the Detroit Tigers and the Philadelphia A's, he posted a .961 fielding percentage with 392 outfield assists.
Presented is one of Ty Cobb's most imposing cardboard heirlooms, an outstanding PSA 4 VG-EX 1911 T3 Turkey Red Cabinet unsurpassed by a single graded example!
This revered keepsake was issued the same year the Georgia Peach claimed his 5th consecutive batting title and MVP. There are arguably no cards that could possibly match the fascinating artistic colors and imagery of the T3 designs, with Cobb's #9 subject being the set's most valuable and coveted player. Presenting a brilliant array of green, orange, red, and gray hues, a picturesque Cobb batting stance of the fiery outfielder, and the renowned T3 wide borders, this issue offers clean surfaces that have eluded any obtrusive blemishes, with only general expected surface wear. To top off the allure and desirability is the Checklist Back displaying "No Offer" as evidence by the blank bottom of the back, typically complete with a Turkey Red, Old Mill and Fez coupon offer. Rare beyond compare as one of only three EVER graded.
