(LOT 123)
Babe Ruth Signed M114 Baseball Magazine Premium – Measures 8-1/4" x 12" Full PSA/DNA LOA

RARE BABE RUTH AUTO!!!... Any signed Babe Ruth keepsake is highly coveted in the collecting community, for it is the Sultan of Swat who stands as our National Pastime's greatest all-time player. While there are a myriad of "cuts" and baseballs signed by the majestic Bambino, the number of available scripted cards or oversized photos pales in comparison. That's said, presented here is one of the rarest of all signed Babe Ruth artifacts, a near-impossible-to-find M114 Baseball Magazine oversized premium boasting Ruth's hallowed signature. Presenting itself in solid "8" strength, the timeless black fountain pen "Babe Ruth" script has been neatly affixed across Ruth's right shoulder area directly beneath his chin and is accompanied by a full PSA/DNA LOA for ironclad authenticity. The M114 Baseball magazine poster series was a colossal issue including over 700 different players/photos.

Distributed by The Baseball Magazine with a paid subscription between 1916-1957, the standard premium poster measures 9-1/2" x 12". Six premiums were given in exchange for a single subscription, with the general public also able to purchase a single poster for 25 cents. Due to his unparalleled star power, there were several different poses released of the incomparable George Herman Ruth, with this portrait version arguably the most desirable of all the M114 Ruth premiums. Indeed, the Bambino's stoic headshot turns back the clock to an era when the mighty Babe was terrorizing opposing pitchers to the tune of an eventual 714 lifetime round-trippers, and you can literally feel the Babe's fierce intensity via his timeless pose. The bold "Babe Ruth" signature shows no ill effects, defying time to present itself in awe-inspiring fashion.

Notable flaws include some surface imperfections within the upper right quadrant, three typical horizontal mailing folds (none of which impede the critical Ruth autograph), and neat manual trims along the side edges, reducing the width from 9-1/2" to 8-1/4". Lower captions read: "Published by the Baseball Magazine Company, New York – "BABE" RUTH – Enlarged from original photograph by Acme News Pictures", and both the blank back and obverse side reveal no obtrusive surface flaws. One of the most celebrated signed Babe Ruth heirlooms extant and Cooperstown worthy to say the least, it serves as a sheer reminder of how this larger-than-life icon turned the baseball world upside down via his prodigious homers and flamboyant personality! PSA/DNA LOA included.
