1961 Fleer #3 Elgin Baylor Rookie PSA 8 NM-MT

ICONIC BAYLOR ROOKIE!!!... Presented here is a spectacular PSA 8 NM-MT Elgin Baylor 1961 Fleer #3 Rookie, truly residing as his premier cardboard issue. Selected as the #1 pick in the 1958 NBA Draft, Hall of Famer Elgin Baylor would play his entire 14-year career with the Lakers, promptly being named the NBA Rookie of the Year in 1959. The immortal small forward would embark on a spectacular career including a sensational 27.4 scoring average via 23,149 lifetime points. He tallied 26 triple-doubles while accumulating sensational 13.5 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game averages. An 11-time All-Star and 10-time All-NBA First Team member, he played in eight NBA finals, never claiming an NBA championship. Named as one of the NBA's 50 greatest all-time players, his #22 was rightfully retired by the Los Angeles Lakers, and this pack-fresh rookie card offering stands as a bona fide testament to his amazing legacy.

Virtually every attribute of this 63-year-old gem substantiates the grade including the classic Baylor image donning his #22 jersey, pinpoint corners, blizzard white borders and crisp surfaces. An abundance of extremely rich hues, including the imposing autumn orange and burgundy background, vividly project Baylor's imposing illustration, with the excellent centering only revealing a modest partiality towards the right edge. For full disclosure, both the left and right edges exhibit somewhat rough factory cuts, a feature that is actually coveted by many collecting purists as a bona fide testament to the card's unaltered state. It should be noted that another PSA 8 example fetched a lucrative $27K in a September 2023 public auction, substantiating the notion that this inaugural Baylor memento resides as one of basketball's iconic rookie issues!
