(LOT 39)
1948 Leaf #32 Warren Spahn Rookie PSA 8 NM-MT

SPAHN ROOKIE!!!... Though Warren Spahn made his Major League debut with the Boston Braves in 1942, he didn't embark on his rookie campaign until 1946, after three years of military service during World War II. In 1947, at 26, Spahn went 21-10 and led the NL in shutouts with seven. Over his 21-year career, Spahn posted an astounding 13 seasons with 20 wins or more, leading the NL eight times including five straight from 1957 to 1961. He retired in 1965 as the winningest left-hander in MLB history with a fantastic 363 victories. Offered is a 1948 Leaf #32 Warren Spahn graded 8 NM-MT by PSA. High-grade examples seldom emerge for auction, and the offered issue presents every attribute expected from a PSA 8 with a crystal-clear portrait of Spahn set against a striking pumpkin orange backdrop with virtually dead-on 50/50 vertical centering, super clean borders, extremely sharp corner tips and immaculate surfaces. Of the more than 1,080 examples graded by PSA, only eight have surpassed this card.
