(LOT 339)
1914 Cracker Jack #6 Eddie Plank PSA 4 VG-EX

GETTYSBURG EDDIE!!! The immortal Gettysburg Eddie is one of baseball's greatest southpaw pitchers, justified by his 327 lifetime wins and eight 20+ win seasons. The prestige associated with his renowned 1909 T206 tobacco card has placed his vintage cards high on collectors want lists, with Plank's esteemed 1914 Cracker Jack #6 subject presented here in a stellar PSA 4 VG-EX holder. Only ten PSA examples have managed to best this super-eye-pleasing marvel atypically boasting near-perfect centering and the lack of any unsightly caramel corner stains on either side. Indeed, seldom does any '14 Cracker Jack subject reveal both of these momentous qualities. Donning his famous Philadelphia Athletics uniform, Plank's 1914 Cracker Jack portrays him one year before he would defect to the newly formed Federal League. The classic portrait pose is set against a clean red background, with no obtrusive surface flaws and/or heavy creases on either side. Accounting for the assessment is even corner wear that actually exhibits a visually pleasing uniformity. Tantamount to the great Eddie Plank's winning ways is this sanctified mid-grade 1914 Cracker Jack offering miraculously eluding the hideous candy stains commonly plaguing these thin-stock condition-sensitive candy treats!
