(LOT 307)
1911-14 D304 General Baking Co. Hal Chase No Team Name SGC 3 VG – POP 1; Only One Example Graded Higher on the Combined SGC & PSA Census Reports!

CHASE NO TEAM NAME!!! Presented here is one of the highly coveted D304 Bread subjects, portraying their team name blocked out by a bold black overprint line, a stellar SGC 3 Hal Chase scarcity. One of five such player variations in the prestigious D304 set, these No Team Name (overprint) subjects were issued in 1913 due to the respective players being traded to new teams, with Prince Hal traded from the Yankees to the White Sox during the 1913 campaign. Extremely rare for the grade, this POP 1 SGC 3 No Team Name scarcity has been bested by only a single General Baking Co. example on the combined SGC and PSA census reports! One of baseball's greatest fielding first sackers, the classic Chase fielding pose has eluded any glaring blemishes, with the assessment due to border soling, even corner wear, and some faint surface abrasions. The final superlative is the verso's rather obscure General Baking Co. advertisement!
