1959 Topps #380 Hank Aaron PSA 9 MINT - Only One PSA Example Graded Higher!
MODEL OF CONSISTENCY!!! Henry Louis Aaron's still-standing records of 2,297 career RBIs and 6,856 total bases are a testament to not only his absolute plate dominance with runners in scoring position but also to his high level of consistency and longevity as an elite player. For 23 seasons, Aaron averaged 185 hits, 31 doubles, 37 homers and 113 RBIs, not to mention 337 total bases per year. He earned 25 All-Star nods over 21 seasons and finished in the top ten for National League MVP an astounding thirteen times, winning the award in 1957. In 1957, Hammerin' Hank changed bats, opting for a lighter 34-ounce log as opposed to his heavier 36-oz. model and was moved fourth in the batting order, behind Eddie Mathews. Despite having led the NL in hits (200), doubles (34), total bases (340) and batting average (.328) the previous 1956 season, these two changes would redefine his role as he led the NL in homers (44) and RBIs (132) in 1957 and guided the Braves to their first NL pennant since leaving Boston in 1952. Hank considered his 11th-inning home run off Billy Muffet of the St. Louis Cardinals on September 23, 1957 to clinch the National League pennant the greatest moment of his career. Presented here is a 1959 Topps #380 Hank Aaron encased 9 MINT by PSA. This superb Aaron example features brilliant clarity with an exemplary image centered amidst an attractive canary yellow background and four snow-white borders. With razor-sharp corners and edging, and only a minuscule centering favoritism to the right border, this is one of the finest examples we have ever offered. Only a single example of the 1959 Topps Aaron has graded higher according to PSA. The reverse displays as prominently as the front with a bright white/ivory background and hunter green and red text that appears to have been printed yesterday. The impeccable surfaces on this 65-year-old beauty only serve to substantiate the superior 9 MINT assessment from PSA, and any '59 Topps collector would be foolish not to give this one a second or third look as it is just that good.
