(LOT 56)
1955 All-American Sports Club Jackie Robinson Premium Including an MBA Gold Diamond Label PSA 2 GOOD – The SOLE Example Listed on the Combined PSA & SGC Pop Charts!

JACKIE RARITY!!! Presented here is one of the rarest Jackie Robinson sports card issues on the planet, a unique 1955 All-American Sports Club Premium that just happens to be the only encapsulated example on ANY professional grading service's pop chart! Just as impressive is its well-merited "MBA GOLD DIAMOND" Mike Baker label, which is awarded to high-quality cards revealing magnificent aesthetics. Measuring 4-3/4" x 5-1/2" and distributed in the 1955 campaign when Brooklyn would finally capture their one and only world championship, these extremely rare black and white premiums are near-impossible to find. Collectors are more familiar with the smaller sized 1955 All-American Sports Club hand-cut cards that were cut off of 9" x 12" sheets for which there are 500 known subjects for America's greatest sports stars, including Mantle, Russell, Robinson and so many more of the globe's foremost athletes.

Not much information is available on the oversized 1955 premiums, and other than a scant handful of identified subjects, including Rocky Marciano and this miraculous Jackie offering, they are virtually non-existent. Interestingly enough, this classic Robinson pose is the exact same image affixed to his more common 1948 Old Gold Cigarettes and 1950 J.J.K. Copy art postcards, with this 1955 premium the only one we have ever encountered. This Jackie Robinson keepsake truly turns back the clock to the year when Dem Bums would finally best the mighty Yankees in a tightly contested seven-game Fall Classic. Of course, any Jackie Robinson memento is highly coveted throughout the collecting community, let alone a PSA POP 1 marvel that, to the best of our knowledge, proudly suffices as the only documented example.

His unparalleled standing as our National Pastime's inaugural African-American MLB player has elevated his cards and memorabilia to a stratospheric level, with the unbridled courage displayed by him and Branch Rickey in 1947 truly echoing for eternity. Emanating the finest possible crystal-clear clarity and similar to the dexterity of the fleet-footed Jackie escaping from a base path rundown, this world-class offering has side-stepped any obtrusive flaws. Simply stated, Jackie's rookie-era pose is beyond breathtaking, with this iconic image also affixed to his previously mentioned 1948 Old Gold Cigarettes rookie postcard. Jackie's bold black facsimile signature is situated directly above his right knee, and his resounding smile steals the show. The brilliant central image, near-perfect centering, strong square corners and blinding white borders are additional world-class highlights, with the overall near-mint+ visual appeal rightfully earning the aforementioned MBA Gold Diamond Label reserved for the most eye-popping cardboard keepsakes.

The rather harsh assessment is most likely due to a diminutive soling spot on the upper border, directly above Robinson's Brooklyn cap, as well as some faint discoloration on the relatively clean blank verso. Most significantly, its undisputed one of a kind PSA census report status and sparkling presentation combine to boast a Hall of Fame dynamic duo for this one and only Jackie Roosevelt Robinson premium. Its sheer existence provides a golden opportunity for the elite Jackie enthusiast to capture one of his most elusive keepsakes, serving as a steadfast reminder of how this incredibly brave individual turned the baseball world upside down via his landmark 1947 signing. Regarding benchmark sales, this Cooperstown worthy marvel's unrivaled paucity level eliminates the notion of comparative pricing, so we will defer to the hobby's most sophisticated collectors to ultimately determine its true worth!
