1953 Topps #82 Mickey Mantle SGC 6.5 EX-NM+
MANTLE!!! Every collector knows the significance of the renowned 1952 Mantle Topps rookie. To own a '52 Mantle is another issue, due to its high demand and price. For Topps collectors, there is, however, an alternative path: this 1953 Topps issue. However, finding a high-grade 2nd-year Mantle Topps card is almost impossible. The Mick won 12 pennants and seven World Series titles and was the classic American hero, idolized by millions of fans, largely in part because of his incredible power that produced tape measure home runs. The card presented here portrays all of the HOF qualities one would expect from a powerful champion. The resounding portrait lithograph of Mantle in his Yankee cap is nicely registered, set against a pleasant stadium backdrop. The clean white borders are centered nicely with no defects, and the edging and corners are sharp. Holdered by SGC, this example exemplifies the qualities expected from any 6.5 EX-NM+ card.
