(LOT 41)
1952 Topps #216 Richie Ashburn PSA 9 MINT - Highest PSA Graded Example!

MINT '52 ASHBURN!!! Presented here is a remarkable PSA 9 MINT 1952 Topps #216 Richie Ashburn subject that, along with eleven other examples, proudly resides as the highest graded PSA specimen! Indeed, of the roughly 1,500 PSA encapsulated copies, not a single one has managed to achieve the esteemed 10 assessment. Had it not been for the image slightly favoring the left edge, this just might have been the first '52 Topps Ashburn to find itself in a PSA 10 GEM MINT holder. Indeed, its sparkling green and red hues, immaculate surfaces, precise clarity, pinpoint corner tips, and sparkling colors all justify the MINT assessment, with only the aforementioned minimal off-centering possibly preventing a perfect grade. Hall of Famer Richie Ashburn was truly one of baseball's greatest center fielders, unfortunately overshadowed by Mays, Mantle and Snider throughout the 1950s. The left-handed batter claimed two batting titles and played center field with reckless abandonment, playing the majority of his 15-year career in the City of Brotherly Love. This pack-fresh '52 Topps memento arguably resides as his most sought-after card, with its pinnacle PSA 9 assessment rarely surfacing for the taking!
