(LOT 1617)
1960 Topps Baseball Near-Complete Set with 15 Graded Cards

One of the hobby's most sought-after sets, this 1960 Topps near-complete set comes with 15 graded cards as follows #s: two PSA 6: 343 Koufax & 564 Mays AS; six PSA 4: 148 Yastrzemski Rookie Star, 300 Aaron, 316 McCovey AS Rookie, 326 Clemente, 350 Mantle & 563 Mantle AS; SGC 7: 55 Mazeroski; SGC 6.5: 35 Ford; SGC 6: 160 Rival All Stars; two SGC 5: 73 Gibson & 420 Mathews; and two SGC 3: 200 Mays & 377 Maris.

Highlights of the ungraded cards include #s: 1 Wynn (EX), 10 Banks (VG), 28 Robinson (VG), 50 Kaline (VG), 136 Kaat (VG), 210 Killebrew (EX-MT), 250 Musial (VG-EX), 332 Yankees (VG-EX), 445 Spahn (EX+), 475 Drysdale (EX OC), 480 Berra (VG), 490 Robinson (EX+), 560 Banks AS (GOOD), 561 Kaline AS (EX), 565 Maris AS (VG), 566 Aaron AS (PR) & 570 Drysdale AS (EX+). The set overall is very fresh looking and probably started off as a very high-grade near-set missing the stars, with more affordable stars put in their place. The individual grades of the star cards do not indicate the condition of the remaining cards in the set. The remainder of the set is 40% EX-MT or better, with many cards being candidates for grading. 35% being EX with the remaining cards being lesser, mostly due to mild handling or defects such as centering or print as caused by the manufacturer. Current estimated value of just the graded cards: $1,300.

Missing cards #s 7, 18, 227, 236, 493, 505, 509 & 513.
