SPORTS PIX MARIS!!! Extremely scarce are the 1960s Sports Pix Premiums that were first issued in 1960 in both large (8-1/2" x 10-1/2") and small (8" x 10") dimensions. Near-impossible-to-find and extremely condition-sensitive due to the thin fragile stock, this PSA 1 Roger Maris Small - Batting Practice offering is one of only nine total examples on the PSA census report. Distributed as blanked-backed premiums for the renowned Sports Pix Magazine, this Maris marvel portrays the Yankees right fielder holding his bat during batting practice. The assessment is due to various areas of glue (possibly tape) residue along the upper border and verso. While a second Maris premium was released after he eclipsed Ruth's hallowed 60-homer in 1961, this seldom-surfacing memento truly resides as one of this legend's rarest collectibles!
