1909-11 T206 Ty Cobb Red Portrait Piedmont 350-460 Subjects/25 SGC 4 VG-EX

TYRUS TOBACCO GEM!!! You would have to initiate an extensive search to locate another 4 VG-EX T206 Ty Cobb Red Portrait example emanating the outstanding visual appeal of this striking SGC 4 beauty! Indeed, this Piedmont 350-460 Subjects/Factory 25 offering exhibits the finest possible mid-grade aesthetics extant! Heading into the 1910 campaign, Cobb had already captured three straight batting titles on his way to an unprecedented nine consecutive seasons of pacing the Junior Circuit! The regal Carl Horner portrait pose of the immortal Georgia Peach literally jumps off the card, ably assisted by the robust fire engine red background that has miraculously eluded any glaring blemishes. In fact, the red ink is so rich, you can actually see some of its hue bleeding through the verso. Adding to the card's luster is the atypically excellent centering seldom encountered on any T206 Cobb. Preventing the technical "5" assessment is even corner wear (actually depicting an eye-pleasing uniformity) and some extremely diminutive soiling spots along the right and lower edges. The flipside portrays a bold Piedmont Cigarettes advertisement, the final exclamation point for one of the finest mid-grade Ty Cobb T206 subjects you will ever come across!
